Project Description
DeMaria provided construction services for DTE’s secure entrance project. Our team collaborated with DTE and SME to clarify the project goals and the primary focus to guide the delivery of all work. All members of the team were provided with detailed information about the project’s objectives, roles, and responsibilities in a timely manner.
Taking an integrated approach was the first step we took. In response to feedback provided by DTE, SME, and subcontractors, a formal project plan was developed based on the award of the project. In order to execute the work, we prepared a preliminary schedule for the project. We were able to be successful in navigating challenges and still be able to make a positive impact on DTE’s schedule and budget. The safety and logistical issues that arose on the site were coordinated daily by our team. During the daily huddle, the team discussed daily work tasks, work plans, safety hazards, coordination, and the responsibilities for executing the scope of work.
In the preliminary logistics plan, access roads, laydown areas, job trailers, contractor parking, staging, and overall communication between the site and the surrounding area were included. The plan changed as the site changed, but communicating it to DTE and the trade contractors was essential to stay on schedule and maintain an efficient job site. The DTE gate off Dunbar Road was our main construction office for orientations, safety meetings, and our home base for the project. DTE’s field office also had a trailer at this location. Along with secondary access at DTE’s gate, we staged porta johns throughout the site and used the Water’s Edge Drive off LA Plaisance as backup access. As a result, multiple points of access were available on both sides.
