University Advancement

The University Advancement project created a collaborative, comfortable, and wellness-oriented workplace for Michigan State University. A preserved moss wall, inspired by the Red Cedar River and rooted in the campus landscape, serves as a focal point. It blends visual impact with acoustic performance. It offers a durable, low-maintenance option for high traffic areas that does not require irrigation or sunlight. Additional green wall elements and turf‑inspired carpet tiles reinforce the university’s visual language.

This project began with full interior demolition, exposing the space down to its structural framework. Updated infrastructure replaced outdated architectural elements and legacy HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. In place of those elements, a cohesive interior environment was created with clean drywall finishes, wood paneling, upgraded ceilings, and contemporary flooring systems. The result is a workplace that maximizes employee performance and enhances alumni and visitor experiences. The University Advancement offices function as a contemporary hub for outreach, engagement, and collaboration, combining modern workplace performance with design elements that celebrate MSU’s history, traditions, and Spartan character.
