Project Description
DeMaria collaborated with SSOE Architects and Engineers, Inc. to complete renovations for Henry Ford Hospital’s Linear Accelerator Room No 1. on their main hospital campus. We installed a new machine called “The Edge,” which provides 15 minute cancer treatment. It was the first linear accelerator of its kind in the United States and the second in the world.
Highlights included:
- Removal of the existing linear accelerator
- Selective demolition of existing room
- Removal and replacement of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC
- Installation of additional lead shielding and a new lead door
- Slab-on-grade concrete
- Miscellaneous steel
- Metal studs, drywall, flooring, and paint
- Custom casework
