Project Description
The vision for the Food Processing and Innovation Center at Michigan State University was to create an environment to accelerate the development and creation of new product lines and processes for the food and agricultural industry. DeMaria completed construction on this project focused on developing space that provides a ‘real-time’ production environment for the food and agricultural industry to create new competitive products. The FPIC is a 10,000 sf fully operational food processing facility designed to provide a range of modern production processes with the flexibility to produce a broad variety of food products to meet consumer needs and packaging solutions.
Scope of work included demolition of most of the existing building and construction of a new building on Hulett Road. A small portion of the existing building remained and was attached to the new addition.
The new addition is a single-story, steel-framed structure with a slab-on-grade floor. The scope of work also included new paved parking on the north, west, and east sides, as well as a loading dock on the north side of the addition.
