How did you hear about the CLIMB internship program at DeMaria? What about the opportunity interested you?

I heard about the CLIMB program online and through the job fair at Eastern Michigan University. I really liked the opportunity to experience all aspects of a project, from pre-construction to closeout.

What are you working on this summer as an intern at DeMaria? What excited you about this project?

I started the summer working on a few projects down at BASF Wyandotte and I am currently working on the Lakeshore Park project in Novi. I was most excited to work in a different environment than I was used to being at a chemical plant.

What skills have you developed during your experience in the CLIMB internship program at DeMaria?

I’ve learned several skills including how the submittal process works, scheduling, project close outs, and the day to day duties that Superintendents handle.

What advice do you have for future CLIMB interns?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions, learn as much as you can from your mentor and meet as many people in the company as you can.

Dante Muzzin is currently enrolled at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI where he studies Construction Management.

How did you hear about the CLIMB internship program at DeMaria? What about the opportunity interested you?

I first learned about the CLIMB internship program from Donna Hall, DeMaria’s Human Resources Manager. I was very interested in the opportunity to grow with a company like DeMaria.

What are you working on this summer as an intern at DeMaria? What excited you about this project?

I am working in the field with DeMaria Superintendent, Nick Annoni, on the City of Grosse Pointe DPW & DPS Facilities projects. I was excited about the fact that there is a little bit of everything involved in this project.

What skills have you developed during your experience in the CLIMB internship program at DeMaria?

I have learned the importance of consistency when communicating with sub-contractors and that documentation is a crucial part of the construction industry, among many other skills.

What advice do you have for future CLIMB interns?

The best advice I can provide to future CLIMB interns is to always show up on time and prepare yourself to learn. There is so much information to take in during those few months, so best thing to do is absorb as much as possible.
