Project Description
DeMaria has completed the construction of the new parking deck at Henry Ford Hospital in West Bloomfield, MI, in collaboration with Ideal Contracting. The five-tier deck is a precast concrete structure that provides 630 parking spots for visitors and patients. The first-floor level offers van parking, with 24 accessible parking spaces, including four handicapped van spaces and 12 charging stations for electric vehicles. Two entrances serve cars arriving from the east Main Entrance drive and west Emergency Entrance parking areas, with two elevator towers for convenient access to the east Main Entrance and the west Emergency Department.
The structure features embedded brick masonry to match the existing hospital and a covered walkway that connects the new parking structure to the existing Main Entrance. The lighting system includes LED fixtures for low energy use, with night-time dimming and presence detectors for energy conservation. The top-tier parking level has hidden lighting fixtures to minimize the visual impact on neighbors. A small detention pond has been added to mitigate any impact on existing wetlands or pond areas. Additionally, extensive landscaping has been installed to enhance the hospital grounds.
