Rosa Parks Transit Center. Detroit Economic Growth Corporation

Project Details

DeMaria was hired by the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation to build the new Rosa Parks Transit Center for the Detroit Department of Transportation in downtown Detroit.

The project scope included building a ground up transit center approx 25,000 sf, site work, paving, and foundations for canopies (by specialty contractor).  The project was funded by federal and state dollars.  No city funds were required for this project.

There is a climate-controlled waiting area, taxi stands, retail services, and transit-police offices. The new terminal is being hailed by both mass transit advocates and developers because it may encourage more people to take the bus to the city’s downtown and it replaces a temporary outdoor facility long considered inadequate.
