Project Description
DeMaria has been hired to complete the GG Brown Laboratory Mechanical Engineering Addition on the University of Michigan’s North Campus in Ann Arbor.
The 62,500 sf addition to the north side of the existing building includes:
- Demolition of selected portions of existing building as required for new construction
- Removal, abatement, and proper disposal of existing lead containing materials
- Concrete masonry unit walls
- Standing seam metal roof and wall panels
- Aluminum entrances and storefronts
- Laboratory casework, fume hoods and equipment
- HVAC system including fume-hood exhaust system
- Alarm and telecommunications systems
Unique characteristics of this project includes:
- LEED Gold Certified
- Ultra-low vibration chambers which include mass foundations and RF shielding
- An LED exterior lighting feature attached to a standing seam metal roof
- A uniquely shaped roof structure and standing steam metal foof that must be be fabricated on site
- A saw tooth curtainwall
- An exterior precast pedestrian bridge with eliminated handrail
