DeMaria, in a joint venture with Walsh, was selected by the Department of Veteran’s Affairs to build the new Blind & Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Centers at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital in Hines, IL., just outside of Chicago.DeMaria’s prior experience working with the VA helped keep this project on track. Additionally, the synergy created by the team led to the successful completion of this project.
Highlights include:
Two new buildings at 117,000 sf 34 beds for patients suffering from blindness 68 beds for spinal cord injuries
2 Boiler rooms
Cast-in-place basement walls
Exterior masonry
Precast construction
New utility systems, mechanical, and electrical Installation of lab equipment
New roads and walkways
Site preparation and phasing for demolition of existing structures
