Location: Novi, MI

Construction Project Engineer – Novi/Detroit, MI

DeMaria is seeking an experienced team-oriented Construction Project Engineer. This person will be responsible for preparing complete, accurate and timely submittal logs for construction projects based on project drawings and specifications. Accountable for receiving approved submittals from Architect or Engineer and notifying the Project Superintendent of potential schedule impact. Assist Project Manager by preparing all necessary back up relating to change requests. Responsible for timely completion of all required project close-out documents per contract. Willingness to work on projects out of state if needed.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Responsible for preparing complete, accurate, and timely submittal logs for construction projects based on project drawings and specifications. Accountable for receiving approved submittals from Architect or Engineer and notifying the Project Superintendent of potential schedule impact. Assist Project Manager by preparing all necessary back up relating to change requests. Responsible for timely completion of all required project close-out documents per contract.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Consistently follow DBC policies and procedures as outlined in the employee manual
• Responsible for the timely coordination of the submittal process (securing, reviewing, and distributing) to maintain the project schedule.
• Coordinate all aspects of the project closeout process.
• Secure back-up for all change requests
• Complete Project Engineer Training Rotation Program

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Obtain all applicable permits if DBC is responsible, if not, determine if required information was sent to the proper city office
• Distribute contract documents to subcontractors, including drawings, specifications, and general conditions. Include any accepted alternates or addendums with documents
• Distribute final requirement documentation to subcontractors and bookkeeper
• Schedule all required construction meetings with required personnel, subcontractors, architects and owners
• Take accurate and complete meeting minutes and distribute timely
• Attend and participate in all project meetings and company training

QUALIFICATIONS (Skills, knowledge, experience)
• Bachelors degree in a construction-related field with a minimum of 2+ years construction related experience
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the construction field.
• Strong and effective communicator, both verbally and written, who can interface cooperatively with various departments of the company, as well as clients and subcontractors
• Possess good organizational, analytical and problem-solving ability
• Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task
• Keen financial aptitude
• Proficient in use, or quickly capable of learning Timberline and Microsoft Project software
• Represent the company at all times with high moral and ethical conduct.

Construction Superintendent – Novi, MI

Currently DeMaria is seeking an experienced and team oriented Construction Superintendent.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Providing overall on site management of construction projects from start to finish and ensure timely completion within budget.
  • Coordinate the work of the subcontractors at the job site.
  • Monitor the project schedule and progress to keep it on track. Complete daily reports.
  • Coordinate manpower needs with the Project Manager and other appropriate people.
  • Continually follow DeMaria Building Company site safety programs.
  • Maintain a professional and positive attitude with Architects, sub-contractors, inspectors, engineers and estimators by striving to successfully resolve questions or issues pertaining to the project.
  • Initiate, track and record R.F.I’s.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Four (4) year construction related degree preferred and minimum of 3-5 years experience as a Superintendent on commercial, industrial or healthcare projects.
  • Complete understanding of plans and specification.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple trades and supervise a large group of people.
  • Extensive construction scheduling experience.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills are required.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft office applications is a must.
  • Ability to maintain positive attitude with a high level of personal pride and professionalism.

Project Bookkeeper – Novi, MI

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Provide project accounting support and services to management team members. Duties will include recording financial transactions (such as billings, AP invoices and cash receipts); A/P- A/R processing. Collecting, reviewing, and filing subcontractor waivers, sworn statements, and change orders.  Monthly report preparation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare AP invoices for Project Manager review
  • Invoice projects as directed by Project Managers
  • Post cash receipts
  • Maintain bookkeeper files
  • Monitor sworn statements and waivers from subcontractors, monitor and watch for liens
  • Issue checks upon receipt of payment from owner
  • Prepare waivers and notify subs checks are ready
  • Process signed and returned change orders from subcontractors
  • Check contracts in Sage to verify correct information
  • Make job cost adjustments as directed by Project Managers
  • Sort daily mail between bookkeepers
  • Send out Notice of Furnishing by certified mail as requested by subcontractors
  • Prepare customer-specific reports as needed

QUALIFICATIONS (Skills, knowledge, experience)

  • A minimum of three to five years of previous work experience in a construction-related Accounting environment;
  • Requires knowledge of accounting principles and practices;
  • Requires analytical and mathematical skills to maintain ledgers, account balances, and other statistical reports;
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, knowledge of Sage accounting systems and other related software a plus;
  • Familiarity with construction-related terminology and processes, waivers and sworn statements. Knowledge of AIA billing format a plus;
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills;
  • Experience in preparation of corporate financial reports and ensuring compliance with internal controls;
  • Must be highly analytical and able to identify, research, and resolve problems in a timely manner;
  • Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Plans, organizes, develops, implements, coordinates and directs human resources policies, programs and practices in the areas of Recruiting and Staffing, Training and Development, Employee Benefits, Employee Relations, Performance Management, Policy Administration, Corporate Initiatives and Diversity.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Oversees all aspects of multi-functional HR Department including Employment, Benefits, Training, and Employee Relations. Serves as key contact with external benefits consultants and attorneys.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate exceptional integrity, moral and ethical values.
  • Manage the recruitment and hiring function for the company, including screening, interviewing, and pre-employment tests, in line with the company’s diversity goals.
  • Consult with senior management to facilitate initiatives that support employee performance, engagement and retention while maximizing organizational effectiveness
  • Manage the plan design and administration of the 401(k) plan, medical, dental and vision insurance plans, flexible spending accounts, and voluntary benefits plans. Ensure compliance with legal requirements related to employee benefit programs; prepare or review required reports
  • Prepare and communicate information to employees about benefit programs, procedures, changes, and government-mandated disclosures. Plan and coordinate the open enrollment period for all employees.

Qualifications (Skills, knowledge, and experience):

  • A bachelor’s degree preferably in HR management and 4+ years’ experience in HR management- working in the construction industry is a plus
  • Human Resources certification is a plus
  • Must have recruiting and hiring experience
  • Knowledge of legislation affecting human resources management.
  • Demonstrated employee relations experience
    • Experience should include administration of comprehensive benefit plans, including carrier management, and employee communication and implementation
    • Past experience developing and implementing employee training programs
    • Objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues.

Local contractor looking for concrete carpenter foreman with experience managing crews and jobsite. Must have at least 10 years verifiable construction experience, at least 5 years as a foreman. Must have an OSHA 30hr certification to qualify

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
    Experience in foundation and elevated concrete construction along with appropriate forming systems and Performing carpentry work
    • Ability to provide layout from control points as provided and Set forms
    • Maintain the required construction schedule and meet or exceed estimated labor productivity
  • Maintain OSHA/MIOSHA standards and enforcement of all onsite company and jobsite safety policies
  • Ability to perform work on a variety of projects in a safe manner while Maintaining a clean safe jobsite
  • Effective Communication with Project Manager and project team
  • Familiar with preparing site logistics plans and time coding
