Ann Arbor Medical Campus Upgrade, United States Department of Veteran Affairs
The VA Hospital Ann Arbor campus, originally built in the 1950's, recently underwent a comprehensive upgrade. DeMaria was involved in three out of the four phases to modernize the health system.
Phase one involved the construction of a new 30,000 sf energy center which fulfills the heating and cooling needs of the 20-acre campus. A three-story, 52,000 sf lab research building featuring 17 independent wet labs and a vivarium was also built.
Phase two featured the construction of two (2) new multi-level parking decks. The structures were built with pre-cast concrete and offer over 1,000 spaces.
Phase four was a renovation of nine (9) floors of the original patient tower with all utilities updated. All floors were occupied during construction. Uninterrupted utility service to the 10th floor and basement was kept throughout the project. The entire fourth floor now houses all mechanical and electrical control systems and a substation.
