ITS Training Center, Detroit Building Authority
DeMaria recently renovated and restored the historic Silver's Building, originally built in 1898, for the Detroit Building Authority. The building now serves as a training center for the City of Detroit. A design/build project, the overall effort was the result of input from the City, Architect, Historical Society and DeMaria.
Old spline ceilings, not original to the building, were removed to allow full view of the ceiling and murals in the atrium. Steel beams and trusses, in existence since the 1900's, were sanded, primed and painted to create an exposed look. New partition walls feature crown moulding to match existing marble crown molding. A raised computer platform, not fastened to the floor, was added. Damaged marble flooring was replaced. New mechanical systems were also installed.
