CNG Fueling Station, Blue Water Area Transit Authority
In 2006, DeMaria built a large, energy efficient, bus operations and maintenance facility for the Blue Water Area Transportation Commission. The new Straffon-Benedict Bus Terminal houses a growing bus fleet enabling more transportaiton service to the Blue Water Area surrounding Port Huron, MI. Funded by MDOT & the Federal Transit Administration, the project was a Design/Build GMP effort of DeMaria and URS Corporation. The new building was designed and built in less than 10 months. A compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station was built on site for CNG powered buses, an alternative fuel to diesel. A separate CNG manufacturing building was also constructed by DeMaria on site.
